DR. MONICA SAMANT, ACADEMIC IN CHARGE

Dr. Monica Samant has done her fellowship training in general ophthalmology under Dr. Suhas Haldipurkar.

She did her fellowship in Paediatric, Squint and Neuro Ophthalmology from L. V. Prasad Eye Institute. She further did her research fellowship in the University of Pennsylvania, USA. She has addressed several conferences and has publications in national and international journals.

Currently Dr. Samant is associated with Laxmi Eye Institute as a consultant in Paediatric, Squint and Neuro Ophthalmology. She is the also the Academic in- charge at Laxmi College of Optometry.

Dr Vidyut, Vice-principal

A reputed academician and acclaimed optometry consultant.

Dr Vidyut is among handful of professionals in the country, who have earned their PhD in Optometry and vision science. She has received a doctorate degree for her outstanding contribution to the field of optometry education, from Manipal Academy of Higher Education (Institute of Eminence, Government of India). She has completed her Masters in Optometry and Masters in Business Administration (HR specialization) with flying colours. At the baseline, she has B.Sc (Physics + Still photography and audio-visual production), B. Sc. (applied) Optometry and B. Optometry to her credit.

Dr Vidyut is a popular teacher in optometry students. And she is frequently invited as guest speaker in key optometry forums. She has worked as member of Board of Studies in YCMOU, school of Health Sciences. She is a clinical director at Special Olympics Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes program at Special Olympics (Bharat). She is actively involved in clinical and academic research in Optometry and has many scientific publications in international, peer-reviewed journals. She has to her credit numerous presentations, posters and talks at various national and international conferences.

At Laxmi, Dr Vidyut is spearheading academic activity of Laxmi College of Optometry with an objective to promote optometry education to the advance level.

Mr. Soumik Dey

Mr. Soumik Dey is a graduate in Optometry from NSHM Knowledge Campus, Durgapur. He then trained at the Aditya Jyot Eye Institute, Mumbai.

He has attended many training programs and conferences related to contact lens, low vision, and sports injuries and has presented scientific papers in AIOC and Vision 2020.

Mr. Dey has been associated with Laxmi Eye Institute since 2008. He is currently a clinical optometrist and his areas of interest are sports vision, paedriatic optometry and orthoptics. He is also a lecturer at Laxmi College of Optometry and heading the Low Vision Aids department.

Mr. Raisul Azam

Mr. Raisul Azam, currently working as a working as a faculty member and internship coordinator

Optom. Raisul Azam is working as a faculty member and internship coordinator at Laxmi College of Optometry, Panvel. He completed his Master of Optometry in 2022 from Amity Medical School, Amity University, Haryana with a Silver Medal in Academic Performance. His specialty subject is Binocular Vision and vision therapy. Prior, he has completed Bachelor of Optometry from NSHM, Kolkata. He is an experienced clinical optometrist, has worked with C L Gupta Eye Institute, Moradabad. He is very active in community eye care, especially school vision programs. Additionally, he is also mentoring student’s research work at Laxmi College of Optometry.

Ms. Shraddha Naik

Ms. Shraddha Naik, currently working as a working as a faculty member

Shraddha Naik has completed her Graduation from Goa Medical College in 2018. After graduation, she worked at Primary health centre and Sub district hospital for a year in Goa. She has completed her Master's degree from Bharati Vidyapeeth University, School of Optometry, Pune in 2022. Currently she is a lecturer at Laxmi college of Optometry and clinical Optometrist at Laxmi eye institute. Her area of interest is comprehensive eye care and applied optics.
